THE UKOOA EXAMINATION

UKOOA policy is to require all persons designated as offshore employees to be examined on a regular basis and classified as medically fit to work offshore. The Industry has to ensure that workers do not put themselves or others at undue risk by failing to meet appropriate fitness criteria.

For that reason, every person working offshore must have a UKOOA medical assessment at least every three years, depending on his or her age. The UKOOA Health Advisory Committee recommends Dr Connie Ellis, at the Bowmont Travel Clinic, as an Oil & Gas Specified Examining Doctor.

UKOOA Guidelines include complete physical examination, comprehensive history, visual acuity, visual colour, audiometry, urinalysis and if necessary ECG and spirometry. These are all available on site at Bowmont Travel Clinic.

The UKOOA Certificate of Fitness
A UKOOA Certificate of Fitness is provided by Dr Connie Ellis when all UKOOA Guidelines are met.

• Bring in your immunization record,
• Wear your glasses (not contacts),
• Bring your passport and/or driver's licence, and
• Have fasted (nothing to eat or drink) for 10 hours prior to coming to the office)
